Beaver Assists with Landscaping

We actually discovered this a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't had a chance to write about it yet.  There's a creek which runs along the southern edge of our property, dividing it from the one next door, and it appears a beaver has taken to visiting our property and munching on the cedar trees. One of the trees has been taken right down, and chewed to bits.

According to someone we spoke with at the City, there is a large beaver pond back in the woods several blocks to the west of us. Apparently beavers branch out in the spring, looking for new food sources.

Fortunately, we weren't concerned about keeping these particular trees,  and there's been no sign of damage to the fruit trees.  Now that we're tending to the property regularly, and visiting frequently with the dogs, we hope this will be enough to convince the beaver to return to his regular home.  We've found no evidence of dam work on the creek, and for now we're just going to monitor and see if he moves on.
